Senator Brown visits Brockton Neighborhood Health Center

U. S. Senator Scott Brown visited Brockton Neighborhood Health Center this week to tour its newly expanded facilities, meet with staff and read to pediatric patients as part of the Center's "Reach Out and Read" program. In addition, Brockton Neighborhood Health Center CEO Sue Joss and League President and CEO Jim Hunt provided the Senator with an update on the role federal stimulus dollars have played in creating jobs and increasing health access in low-income communities served by health centers across the state.


Hunt, Walczak, Williams, Morrison recognized by BBJ as Health Care Champions

League CEO Jim Hunt and Codman Square Health Center CEO Bill Walczak received Lifetime Achievement awards at this year's Champions in Health Care breakfast sponsored by the Boston Business Journal on Friday, September 17 at the Seaport Hotel. Also being honored were Whittier Street CEO Frederica Williams for her community outreach efforts and Boston Health Care for the Homeless nurse Sharon Morrison for her excellent patient care.

Hafer, Abrams, Iselin and Murray receive Rx for Excellence awards

League COO Ellen Hafer, Dorchester House Multi-Service Center CEO Joel Abrams, Senate President Therese Murray and BCBSMA Foundation President Sarah Iselin received Rx for Excellence awards on Friday, September 24 at Westin Copley Place. The awards were sponsored by Lawyers Weekly and recognize Massachusetts health care professionals and officials who demonstrate the highest standards in risk management, regulatory compliance, safety and quality.
