Board Members from across the state attend day-long training

Waltham, MA - Fifty-three community board members from 17 of the state's 49 community health centers attended a sold-out Board Symposium, Community Boards: Protecting & Nurturing a Community Asset, on Saturday, February 28 at the Embassy Suites in Waltham. The symposium provided an opportunity for board members to participate in discussions on a range of topics impacting the future of health centers and their patients.

Topics included:

  • Adding Value as a Board and Board Member;
  • Board Compliance and Best Practices;
  • Fostering Effective Board Leadership and Center Sustainability; and
  • Updates on State and Federal Health Policy Issues.

In addition, League staff provided an overview of the origins of health centers to mark this year's 50th anniversary of the founding of the first health center in the nation at Columbia Point, Dorchester in December 1965.
