Community Health Center Primary Care Loan Repayment Program:
The Community Health Center Primary Care Loan Repayment Program is managed by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and is funded as part of a broader Bank of America – Partners HealthCare Primary Care Physician Initiative.  The program is intended to increase the capacity of health centers to provide primary care by enhancing the availability of primary care physicians and nurse practitioners.  This initiative will support the expansion of primary care capacity in health centers in Massachusetts.  More more details, please click below:

Conrad 30/J-1 Visa Waiver Employment Program:
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) supports employment requests for J-1 visa physicians.  DPH assists health care facilities located in federally designated medically underserved areas with physician recruitment by supporting J-1 visa waiver requests.  As part of this program, foreign born doctors will be permitted to remain in the United States and receive a waiver of the foreign country residence requirement if they spend three years working in geographic ar
eas where there is shortage of doctors.  Federal law authorizes DPH to support no more than 30 J-1 visa waiver requests per federal fiscal year.  For more information, please visit the site below:

Disadvantaged Students Loan Repayment Program:
The Loans for Disadvantaged Students program provides long-term, low-interest rate loans to full-time, financially needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds, to pursue a degree in allopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatric medicine, pharmacy or veterinary medicine.

The Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students program provides scholarships to full-time, financially needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enrolled in health professions and nursing programs.  More more details, please click below:

National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program:
The National Health Service Corps Scholarship program is awarded to future practitioners who are interested in working with the underserved. The program offers payment of tuition and fees, books, supplies, and equipment for up to four years of education.  For each year of support the students receive, they must serve one year in a federally designated health professional shortage area (HPSA) of greatest need.  There is a minimum of a two year service commitment which begins upon completion of residency or training.  Eligible providers include those enrolled in fully accredited U.S. allopathic or osteopathic medical schools and those studying to become a nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, physician assistant or dentist.

National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program:
To qualify for the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment program, a provider must be a U.S. citizen, with a valid unrestricted license, or certificate in Massachusetts, and must work full-time. A provider also must agree to provide primary care services in the community health center for a minimum of two years.  For more information, please visit the site below:

Massachusetts State Loan Repayment Program:
The
Massachusetts Department of Public Health administers a loan repayment program for health care professionals who commit to working full time for two years in community health centers (up to $15,000 per year for two years).  This program is funded through a combination of state and federal funds.  For more information, please visit the site below:

MassHealth Access Program Loan Repayment & Scholarship Programs:
The MassHealth Access Program - Loan Repayment Program is available for dentists who commit to working in a community health center or public or nonprofit dental clinic.  Dentists, within five years of graduating from dental school, will be awarded $30,000 for full time work and $20,000 for part time work, over a two year period.  For more information, please visit the site below:

The MassHealth Access Program - Scholarship Program is available for up to 3 dental students who commit to working in a public health setting upon graduation for two years.  Dental students will be awarded $40,000.  For more information, please visit the site below:

University of Massachusetts Medical School "Learning Contract" Program:
Since 1978, the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine (UMMS) has offered students a “learning contract”, which defers payment of two-thirds of tuition.  This contract requires the student to commit to at least four years of full-time employment in primary care, public or community service, or in underserved areas.  This program is only for UMMS medical students who are state residents.  For more information, please visit the site below:

US Health and Human Services Exchange Visitor Program:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Exchange Visitor Program accepts applications to request waiver of the two-year foreign residency requirement.  Physicians with J-1 visas must agree to deliver health care services for three years in mental health or primary care Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).  For more information, please visit the site below:
