H. Jack Geiger, MD Historical Perspective
UPDATED: Physician-activists H. Jack Geiger and Count D. Gibson, Jr. helped launch the American Community Health Center Movement in 1965 with their
founding of the first two community health centers in the nation: one at Columbia Point in Dorchester, Massachusetts and the other in Mound Bayou,
Mississippi. In this video from April 2008, Dr. Geiger recounts to medical students at Tufts University School of Medicine how these federal demonstration
projects ultimately helped to create the national Health Center Program.
